Do-It-Yourself Installation Guide

ResiDeck interlocking deck tiles are specifically designed for quick and easy do-it-yourself installation.  There’s no need for nails, screws, fixing devices or adhesives.  And in most cases, you won’t even need any tools other than a tape measure! Even if you have no carpentry skills or DIY expertise, you’ll normally find it’s quite easy to install the tiles yourself.

The only time you’ll require additional tools is if you need to fit tiles around posts or pipes or trim tiles to fit precisely the area being covered. Even in this case, our ResiDeck tiles can easily be cut with a power saw, jigsaw or just a simple handsaw.

Although ResiDeck deck tiles can be laid over most hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, gravel, hard dirt), it is important that there are no large cracks, bumps or depressions which could cause the tiles to lie unevenly or “rock” on the surface, and possibly create a tripping hazard. If the surface is particularly rough or cracked, you should firstly level it with a suitable exterior patching compound or filler. On hard dirt or gravel, the surface should be leveled, well compacted and covered with a weed control barrier.

ResiDeck tiles can also be laid directly over existing wood decks, assuming the boards are not twisted and are structurally sound.

do-it-yourself - installing tiles

Because the tiles don’t penetrate or affect the surface they are laid on, they can be particularly useful in locations which prohibit permanent structures being installed, such as balconies or rooftops with waterproof membranes.

In some cases it may be necessary to lay the tiles over a surface drain. Due to the open mesh base on the underside of the tiles, this is not normally a problem, although it may be necessary to lift a tile or two from time to time to clear any build up of debris under the tiles.

ResiDeck tiles are designed to be laid flat and fully supported on a solid surface.

If you’d rather not install the tiles yourself, any competent handy person should be able to install the tiles for you.  Just remember also that if you run into any problems at all, just give us a call on 866 206 8316 and we’ll do all we can to help.
