Care & Cleaning

ResiDeck decking tiles are designed with the same low maintenance properties as any composite wood decking. Whilst one of the main attractions of wood composite materials is undoubtedly their low maintenance requirements, the following points should be observed so that your ResiDeck tiles remain in optimum condition.

Although wood composite with not turn gray or rapidly fade on exposure to harsh sunlight, you can expect your ResiDeck tiles to fade in color by about 10% during the first few months of exterior exposure. Typically however any further fading will be minimal.

Dirt and grime can simply be sprayed down with a high-pressure water hose.

For mold and mildew it is recommended NOT to use a cleaner containing sodium hypochlorite (bleach). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) do not recommend chlorine bleach products for mold (mildew is a species of mold) remediation on porous surfaces such as composite decking. Chlorine based products do not remove or kill the roots (mycelium) of the fungus. In fact, a few weeks after cleaning a composite wood deck with chlorine based products you may notice mildew or other mold fungus growing back in greater numbers, especially after moisture comes into contact with the deck. These type of products can often make the problem worse and make it harder to remove mildew on subsequent occasions.

Instead you should consider using a product like Corte Clean or EZ Off Composite Deck Cleaner from eg. SunBrite Supply or Penofin Pro-Tech Composite Cleaner.

When shoveling off snow, a shovel fitted with a plastic tip should be used to avoid gouging the surface of the tiles.
